Supporting the Arts

The New Albany Arts Council Broadway Beginners workshop is a 6-week program for children ages 6-8. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce young actors to the basics of performing in a musical. Through ice breakers, warm-ups, games and other exercises, participants will learn the basics of musical theater vocal techniques, minimal choreography, and how to work together as an ensemble.

The workshop culminates in a short performance for friends and family during the last 30 minutes of the final workshop, followed by a reception with light refreshments.

The Fall session will also perform during the NAAC ‘Night Moves’ concert on Sunday, October 29. Workshop participants will receive a T-shirt (that they will wear during the performance), a script and learning CD. For more information, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Registration is now CLOSED!.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, Seussical tells the story of Horton, an elephant who  discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks." Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
